NewDay Apartments Attends Peoria Summit of Hope

Efforts such as this support NewDay's mission to reduce registrant recidivism & protect communities by helping former offenders find jobs and contribute to society rather than repeat past mistakes.

April Recognized as Second Chance Month: Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) to Host “Summit of Hope” in Peoria

Springfield, IL – April is officially recognized as Second Chance Month, a time dedicated to supporting individuals transitioning from incarceration back into society. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) are partnering to host the Summit of Hope event on April 10, 2025, in Peoria, to provide essential resources for returning citizens.

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Peoria Civic Center, located at 201 SW Jefferson Ave., Peoria, IL 61602. The Summit of Hope serves as a one-stop resource fair, connecting formerly incarcerated individuals with vital services, including health screenings, job opportunities, housing assistance, educational programs, and legal aid.

“Second Chance Month is about recognizing the dignity of individuals who have paid their debt to society and helping them rebuild their lives,” “The Summit of Hope event is a critical initiative to ensure returning citizens have access to the tools they need to succeed and contribute positively to their communities.”

The event will feature a variety of service providers, employers, community organizations, and government agencies working together to address barriers to reentry. Attendees will have opportunities to obtain identification documents, enroll in healthcare programs, and receive support for mental health and substance abuse recovery.
